DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a steroid hormone precursor that can be converted into androgens and estrogens. This product provides 5 mg of micronized DHEA per capsule. Because DHEA is hormone-active, it is best used for a defined clinical reason with appropriate clinician oversight rather than as a routine anti-aging or energy supplement.
Evidence Note
Human trials of systemic DHEA show inconsistent benefits in otherwise healthy adults. Systematic reviews in postmenopausal women have not demonstrated consistent improvement in libido, cognition, metabolic health, or overall well-being, and androgenic or estrogenic adverse effects can occur.
