Overview
This formula provides niacin (vitamin B3) from inositol hexanicotinate, a form designed to minimize the flushing commonly associated with free nicotinic acid. Niacin is an essential vitamin involved in normal energy metabolism through the NAD/NADP coenzyme systems.
 
Important Evidence Note
Flush-free niacin should not be assumed to have the same lipid-lowering effects as pharmacologic nicotinic acid. In a randomized trial in people with mild to moderate dyslipidemia, inositol hexanicotinate did not improve lipid measures compared with placebo and showed little evidence of bioavailable nicotinic acid. This product should therefore be used as a vitamin B3 supplement, not as a substitute for prescription or clinician-directed lipid treatment.
